My Favorite Book of 2008.

So, I've thought about it. My favorite book I read last year was Fuzz & Pluck: Splitsville by Ted Stearn. I really liked the first book and this new chapter in the lives of the plucked chicken and teddy bear duo really takes the story to a whole new level. Stearn was a teacher when I was majoring in comics at SCAD. My pals and I learned a lot from him, if you read this book you'll know why. It feels like an old animal strip from back in the day but the story structure sticks to the longer graphic novel format. Good stuff. Great characters. Anyhoo, it's worth the cover price for sure.

it was my favorite book too! we just had a top 5 list at work that i never got around to writing anything for, which is a bummer, because this book need to be read. it's too damn good to be lying under the radar anymore..

[ps did you catch the part where ted mixed up some spreads?]

No, I didn't notice. Which ones? I just got around to buying this thing with Christmas money, while I was in Chicago. It cracked me up. The ferryman and the bridge bits were my favorite.

it's right after fuzz escapes from the toy room and the dog goes chasing him. ted mixed up two spreads and so the pages are out of order. i talked to him about it seattle and he was pretty pissed about it. i would be too... but what can you do?

anyhow. happy new, year dude. are you coming out here to visit this year? i'm willing to pitch in for a plane ticket.

I really want to. I'm thinking about maybe hitting a convention on your coast. Any suggestions... other than the wank fest that is comic-con.

I can't imagine Alterna isn't gonna be at San Diego, yeah? Three bad-ass dorks in the biggest nerdfest this side of Oahu? Can I get a hells yeah?

Stumptown's a smallish con, but like the Jonster said, you can kill two birds with one stone visiting us.

And yeah, "HELLS YEAH" to Fuzz and Pluck in Splitsville being the real deal. I've been trying to think about what some of my favorite books and whatnot of the year have been, and this one's definitely up there.
